Humanitarian, international best-selling author and inspirational speaker Michael Crossland wowed the crowd at the Narrabri High School fundraiser event to raise funds on behalf of the Country Education Foundation of the Namoi on Wednesday, March 1.

Mr Crossland has been a fighter since birth, defying the odds of surviving not only a rare form of life-threatening cancer, but being the sole survivor of a horrific cancer drug trial.

His battle continues to this very day, having spent nearly a quarter of his entire life in hospital.

Despite being told what he could not do at various stages throughout his life, he continually shows the world everything that he can do.

A businessman and elite sportsman, Michael is at the forefront of today’s new generation of inspirational speakers and is one the most in demand and highly respected speakers in Australia.

Mr Crossland has forged a highly successful career in the corporate world, represented Australia in his chosen sport and featured regularly across all forms of media.

He also runs a school and orphanage in Haiti which he spoke about at length, and has been presented with the Australia Day Ambassador role for seven consecutive years.

Mr Crossland has presented to more than 600,000 people from all walks of life around the world, including corporates from all backgrounds, juvenile detention centres in Texas, Ground Zero September 11 victims, elite athletes from across the globe and, through his numerous charities, including the Make a Wish Foundation, has given hope and strength to many people facing life threatening illnesses.

The Country Education Foundation of the Namoi was delighted with the turnout at Wednesday’s event.

Established in December 2000, the committee aims to provide financial assistance and support local students and help them achieve their post high school education and vocation goals.

The Country Education Foundation of the Namoi fundraises throughout the year and accepts donations from residents and businesses in the district in order to provide financial grants to students who need an extra helping hand.

Supporting a diverse range of education and career pursuits including apprenticeships, traineeships, cadetships, degrees, diplomas and certificate level studies or entry careers, the organisation is a greatly appreciated part of the Narrabri community.
