Narrabri Bowling Club hosted three quarter-finals and a semi-final last week as the action on the local John McNamara Owen Campey Green continues to heat up in 2023.
The last Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club consistency singles competition quarter-final was played on Thursday as Lorraine Scott progressed to the semi-final stage.
Scott defeated Lisa Pillar 152-118 across 28 ends after she was forced to give her opponent a six-shot start.
Scott gained the lead on the fourth end and stayed in front for the rest of the way.
She will now challenge Cecile in a semi-final clash this weekend.
The winner of that match will take on Helen Woodward after she downed Cindy Neil 155-128 across 29 ends in the other semi-final on Saturday.
Those two bowlers produced a close game and the lead was shared throughout the contest.
Woodward was ahead 104-100 after 21 ends, and she then scored 51 shots to Neil’s 28 across the next eight ends to win the match by 27 shots.
The Narrabri Bowling Club’s 2022 season mixed pairs comp continued on Saturday when two quarter-finals were contested.
In one match, Trinity Kelly and Eva Sadler beat Lyn Tuckey and Laurie Gilbert 27-10 across 17 ends.
The other game saw Tony and Marie Redman outscore Dave and Ronnie Dewar 25-15 in 20 ends.
The score was 7-all on the eighth end, 10-all on the 11th end and 13-all on the 13th end in that match before the Redmans scored 12 shots to two across the next six ends to win and progress to the semi-final stage.
Meanwhile, ladies’ social bowls was played at Narrabri Bowling Club last Thursday.
Dawn Armstrong, Ronnie Dewar and Lyn Tuckey beat Jan Etheridge, Janet Coleman and Di Chessells 20-15, and Berice Eather, Lyn Wedesweiler and Marie Redman downed Rhonda Fitzgerald, Glennis Godden and Cecile 16-14.

Mixed pairs quarter-final matches at 1.30pm:
Lorraine Scott and Cameron Yates v Lyn Wedesweiler and Bill Rosewarn; Kay Carolan and Ian Macmillan v Ron Ryan and Cindy Neil.
