Narrabri and District Chamber of Commerce will again stage its Christmas street carnival on a Friday evening following the success of last year’s event.

Chamber president Russell Stewart confirmed festivities were planned for Friday, December 15 at the March meeting.

A date of September 9 has been selected for the chamber’s acclaimed gala business awards celebration.

Prior to the March general meeting, Mr Stewart highlighted the success of the two major events – the street carnival and business awards – during his president’s report at the annual general meeting.

Mr Stewart told members of ongoing engagement with Primary Health Network representative Cheyenne Moody in regards to strategies to retain and attract medical professionals in rural areas.

Chamber also attempted to pursue a state election candidates forum, similar to successful events held for the local and federal government elections.

However, Mr Stewart said difficulties in getting a mutual date from candidates meant the forum was unable to go ahead.

Mr Stewart also received a new laptop on behalf of the chamber from Santos representatives to assist executive members with chamber duties.
