A morning tea was organised by Robert Whiddon Group staff for the celebrations of Myra Smith’s 97th birthday on Monday, April 17.

The facility was decorated with happy birthday signs, balloons and fresh flowers.

Mrs Smith was delighted to receive lots of beautiful cards, and flowers which had been sent from her daughter, Sue Eurell in Townsville who had recently visited.

She celebrated cutting her cake with her two great-grandchildren Mary and Flynn Smith.

In 2021 Mrs Smith was part of the inaugural Whiddon Cooking Club competition which proudly took out first prize from entries across NSW and Queensland.

Around 60 sweet and savoury recipes were gathered into a cookbook, all of which had a special memory or personal connection to the Whiddon residents.

The recipes were then prepared by the residents each week from the cooking facilities in their building.

The first-place trophy was a momentous win for the Narrabri group.

In 2020, a St Francis Xavier’s school reunion was organised at the Narrabri RSL Club.

Mrs Smith, as the oldest former pupil attending, was guest of honour, cutting the cake and making a speech at the event.

Mrs Smith is looking forward to more treasured family memories and birthday celebrations to come.
