Office manager Ashley Scott is leading a progressive team at GBP Cranes & Heavy Haulage in Gunnedah.

The locally owned and operated company specialises in heavy equipment hire and haulage services throughout the New England North West region.

It provides services for a wide range of mining, agricultural and private requirements, with crews based in Gunnedah and Narrabri, Tamworth.

With a team of five women already on the books, Ashley said GBP is a terrific place to work.

“It’s a great group of people to work with, there’s projects happening all the time,” she said.

The managerial role is a new undertaking for Ashley but one made easier with the backing of her four years’ experience in the accounts team.

“It’s a new area for me but the other staff have been very supportive, offering training and looking for ways to help out,” she said.

The diverse role includes everything from overseeing payroll to the accounts receivable records.

“There is still a lot to learn but I have great support and they put a lot of trust in me,” she said.

“It’s a great opportunity to keep growing our skillset and knowledge.”

As a local Gunnedah girl, Ashley said the wider community offered great employment potential as well – especially for women in business.

“I’ve grown up here, I think it’s a great town to live in,” she said.

“We are a growing community and there’s plenty of growth opportunity here.”
