Recently relocated Narrabri band Nuffin Butta staged a backyard fundraiser at the home of Harry Goddard and Oscar Mitchell in Moffat Beach, Queensland to a sell-out crowd in support of the Black Dog Institute on Saturday April 22.

The band, consisting of front man and guitarist Harry Goddard, Connor Duncan on bass, Jaice Hill on guitar, Jordyn Mowle on drums and Oscar Mitchell formerly of Moree on keyboard, played to an enthusiastic crowd and raised more than $2000 for the mental health organisation.

More than 150 attended the gig, arranged to showcase and support Sunshine Coast local Rory Collishaw’s journey across Australia for mental health raising money for the cause.

The Moffat Beach idea started as a casual jam with one or two bands but soon progressed as locals heard about the plans.

Ideas kept arising about the possibilities of more bands and a bigger audience, resulting in a nine-act line up of Sunshine Coast solo artists and bands supporting the 26-year-old.

The list of performers comprised of Pity Vincent, Catching Salmon, Dylan Crowe, Moree’s Kicked in Bickie Tin, Treehouse, Max Bryant, Chamber-Lane, Redwood Scoundrel and Nuffin Butta.

Mr Collishaw is travelling across Australia to accomplish his mission of raising a $100,000 goal.

Having struggled with mental health, depression and anxiety for some time, it took nearly losing his life in a motor vehicle accident to shock and motivate Mr Collishaw to realise that there is more to life.

Opportunities, possibilities and challenges are all taken head on nowadays, and Mr Collishaw has been undertaking a tour from Perth WA back home to the Sunshine Coast to raise funds for the Black Dog Institute’s research.

Encapsulated in his own words, “I want to turn ground-breaking research into lifesaving action.”

Mental illness affects one in five Australians every year, with the most common symptoms being depression and anxiety.
