Narrabri Touch’s 2023 women’s and men’s competitions got underway on Monday night as season two officially began at Hogan Oval and Leitch Oval.

Season two sees men’s and women’s teams play in septate competitions after season one earlier this year was a mixed comp.

There are 10 men’s teams and eight women’s teams in 2023, which will all play against each other once before splitting off into pools for the final set of regular season games ahead of the finals series.

The grand finals and presentation will be held at Dangar Park, the home of Narrabri Rugby Club, on Sunday, November 26, during the afternoon.

Four of the five round one matches were contested in the men’s comp on Monday night.

NFC defeated Namoi Brothers 7-1, Grumley Builders downed Ballbusters 7-4, Wilga Pelicans beat Cougars 9-4, and Lations outscored Gee Bangers 7-2. The other match was a 5-0 default win to Win Or Booze as they received a forfeit from DTA Timber Lumberjacks.

All four women’s competition games went ahead as Specialised Quarries and Concrete won 12-1 against Wilga Westies, Twisted Blisters outscored Bluebirds 13-1, Hounddogs edged out Touch ‘n’ Go 4-3, and SPA Redbacks beat CBRE 5-1.

Narrabri Touch president Mereka Gleeson told The Courier that it was an enjoyable night of touch footy on Monday.

“It was a really good night and there was a really positive atmosphere,” Gleeson said.

“Everyone enjoyed being back at touch.”
