Narrabri & District Community Aid Service Inc. (NDCAS) received runner-up in the Employer Choice, (more than 5 employees category) at the recent 2023 Narrabri and District Chamber of Commerce Santos Business Awards held at The Crossing Theatre on Saturday, September 9.

Over the past few years NDCAS has endeavoured to support the Narrabri Shire community and have achieved some significant goals.

The organisation is working towards a government Department of Communities and Justice accreditation for Australian Service Excellence Standards (ASES).

Usually taking a timeframe of 12-18 months to complete, the main steps involved to achieve accreditation are self-assessment and evidence preparation, site visit assessment (external review), and a Quality Action Plan or Quality Improvement Plan.

During the 2022/23 financial year NDCAS Narrabri supported more than 350 people requiring homeless support.

Also offering domestic violence, family and youth support, women and children refuge, the Namoi Toy Library and playgroup and the NDCAS Youth Centre, there is a plethora of services provided.

In 2024 NDCAS will be celebrating its 50th year of operations, and this week manager Joshua Pattison expressed his gratitude for the award.

“The NDCAS staff are an amazing group of people who work hard every day supporting the community and people in need. It was an honour to be nominated for this award by them.”
