Narrabri will again embrace ‘pink power’ as Pink Up Namoi is held for a third year.

Preparations are in place for a fundraising dinner to be held at the Narrabri RSL to support the McGrath Foundation.

Narrabri business owner Jenny Wilson is organising this year’s pink-themed festivities and is encouraging the community to show their support.

“It will be a night of good food and entertainment while supporting a great cause,” she said.

Jenny is no stranger to supporting charities and local groups, and is known to get behind any worthwhile cause.

The dinner, to be held on Saturday, October 14, continues the shire’s support of the McGrath Foundation through Pink Up Namoi.

Pink Up Namoi, originally started by Narrabri breast cancer survivor Karen Kirkby, has raised thousands of dollars towards the breast cancer charity and has been well-supported by the entire community since its inception in 2021.

The two-course dinner will feature entertainment, an auction as well as raffles to add to the fundraising tally.

Jenny anticipates the evening will be a memorable night.

“I love to give back to the community,” she said.

Across the years, Jenny has enjoyed supporting Cancer Council NSW and its various fundraisers and has been again happy to throw her support behind the McGrath Foundation.

The McGrath Foundation was started by the late Jane McGrath, wife of prominent Australian cricketer Glen McGrath.

One of its signature projects has been enabling breast care nurses to care for patients across Australia.

When addressing Narrabri at a previous Pink Up fundraiser, McGrath Foundation chief foundation ambassador and director Tracy Bevan said up to 70 communities still did not have access to a breast care nurse.

The foundation’s continued fundraising push across Australia is to enable communities large and small access to the much-needed service.

Narrabri is fortunate to have the services of a breast care nurse who covers both this shire as well as Moree Plains.

Tickets for the Narrabri dinner as well as pink merchandise are available at Jenny’s Maitland Street eatery, the Monterey Cafe.

The cost of the dinner is $60 per person and the friendly Monterey team will gladly assist people in purchasing a ticket.
