The anxious wait is over for Narrabri High School HSC students.
Results were released by email to students last week and Narrabri High is again delighted with the achievements of its students.
Students have achieved commendable HSC results across all subject areas.
“There were 3 band 6 results,” deputy principal Rozina Brodrick said.
Among the top results was Matthew Evans for Industrial Technology.
“Matthew’s project was also nominated for inclusion in SHAPE a display of exemplary HSC works from Industrial Technology, Textiles and Design and Design and Technology.
“His project was a working full-size cattle ramp and is a testament to his skills and dedication to his project.
“Jesse Weekes and Alexander Mison’s outstanding results in Extension 2 Mathematics meant that they receive notional Band 6s in Advanced Mathematics.
“This means that their performance was considered good enough that if they had sat the Mathematics Advanced paper for which they still had to complete all the work they would have received a Band 6.
“There were numerous Band 5s and Extension 2 results across a multitude of subjects, Chemistry, Economics, English Advanced, Mathematics Standard 2, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 1, Mathematics Ext 2, Music 1 – in which the whole class achieved Band 5s – Hospitality, Human Services Personal Development Health and Physical Education, Physics and Visual Arts.
“These were achieved by 13 students. Special mention to Jesse Weekes who scored the top ATAR of 93 with six Band 5s, Eliza Dampney who achieved an ATAR of 88.55 with five Band 6s and Alexander Mison whose ATAR was 85.9 with four band 5s.
“Narrabri High School is proud of these high academically achieving students not just for the results but for the dedication these students have shown to their studies.
“They have worked hard in class and at home, set goals and worked towards them. They have made sacrifices and always worked to the best of their abilities.
“As a comprehensive high school, we are proud of all our students.
“For some students, the journey to the end has been particularly difficult and we are proud of the tenacity, perseverance and resilience shown by the class of 2023.
“In a society that often places emphasis on scores and rankings we need to remember that education is a journey and that the end place is not defined by a number, and we congratulate every member of the class of 2023.
“They are more than a number, as a group they have shown themselves to be kind, accepting of each other and keen to change the world starting with those around them.
“They are the evidence that public education has the power to change lives and we look forward to seeing the amazing difference they will make to the lives of others.”
