Lauren Guy, the daughter of Robert Palmer and Sharon Duffy and granddaughter of Narrabri residents Ian and Eileen Duffy, was the proud winner of a prestigious award at the 2023 Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Local Business Awards held at the Hornsby RSL Club on October 11, 2023.

Lauren took home the 2023 ‘outstanding sole operator’ trophy for her owner-operated conveyancing business in Hornsby.

Born in Penrith and moving to Narrabri from 2004 with her parents and younger siblings Leigh and Jarryd, Lauren attended Narrabri High School, graduating in 2008.

Next attending Macquarie University and obtaining a degree in Conveyancing Law and Practice, Lauren later moved to Sydney in 2019 to begin her conveyancing career.

Launching her own business, Lauren Guy Conveyancing, Lauren has been culminating a substantial client base, assisting with conveyancing matters including sales, purchases and property transfers of residential property across NSW.

Recalling her fondest memories of living in Narrabri, Lauren was hard pushed to pinpoint one aspect of living in a small country town.

“It was everything. I have some amazing friends who still live in Narrabri who have been friends since the start of high school.”

Upon moving to Windsor, north west of Sydney, the idea grew of running her own business.

“I had firstly started off as a settlement clerk at Southport, Queensland to get some money behind me to buy my first home, and it was then that I became very interested in the process and how it got to this stage.”

Now embracing the role of proprietor, Lauren said: “Every matter and client is different.

“It is so rewarding to be the only person handling each matter from start to finish, being able to give that call once settlement has completed to let them know they can move into their dream home, or to congratulate them on selling their family home.

“Lauren Guy Conveyancing has been a finalist in the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Local Business Awards for the past three years and with last year being my busiest year to date, my husband Patrick Guy and myself went to the awards night so unprepared.

This was such a large category with many other fantastic businesses competing against me.

“They announced the winner, and I did not even register that it was me, I just kept sitting there waiting for the winner to go up on stage, when I realised it was actually me. I was in total and utter shock, and so overwhelmed with the support and acknowledgement of the community.”
