ACE Power and Osaka Gas Energy Oceania are pursuing development approval for the Narrabri Solar Farm and Battery Energy Storage System.

The development will be located 11km north east of Narrabri, at a site located between Logans Lane and Bald Hill Road.

The proposal is in the initial scoping phase of the State Significant Development application process, where discussions and input from the community are collected to help guide the scoping report.

The proposed solar farm would be located on approximately 312 hectares of private land, with the solar farm having an approximate capacity of 140 megawatts and the Battery Energy Storage System being 100 megawatts (up to eight hours).

The solar farm would connect directly to the National Energy Market grid through a 132 kilovolt high voltage powerline running through the western corridor of the lot.

The Narrabri Solar Farm has a capital investment value of more than $350 million and is therefore deemed a State Significant Development.

It would bring significant investment to the local area during construction and would create jobs, diversify income and increase revenue in local service providers such as food, fuel, and accommodation operators in the local area, initial plans state.

As advertised in The Courier last week, information sessions will be conducted at The Crossing Theatre next Tuesday (2pm to 7pm) and Wednesday (8am to 1pm) for residents to learn more about the proposed Narrabri Solar Farm.
