Mount Kaputar National Park will be closed for an aerial pest control operation.

National Parks and Wildlife Service will conduct the operation from 5pm on Monday, March 18 until 5pm on Friday, March 22.

Kaputar Road and central visitation areas of the park will be closed during this period, Narrabri Shire Council advised in a statement last week.

This includes Bark Hut campground, Dawsons Spring campground and cabins.

The front park entrance gate will be locked, and access points clearly signposted with closure notices.

Sawn Rocks will remain open.

This aerial pest control operation will be conducted as part of an ongoing program to protect the ecological values of Mount Kaputar National Park and reduce impacts of feral vertebrate species on reserve and surrounding private property.
