Popular school bursar Kathi Williams has called it a day after nearly 20 years’ employment at Moree Christian School.

Mrs Williams will officially click off the calculator over Easter, as she looks forward to retirement with her husband, Wayne.

“We plan to move to a cooler climate and be closer to our children and grandchildren, so we can spend more time with them,” Mrs Williams said.

“I would also like to hope some travelling is on the cards,” she laughed.

Mrs Williams started crunching numbers at Moree Christian School in 2007, after spending 14 years in the Moree District Hospital’s finance department.

Moree Christian School, established in 1984, has undergone enormous growth over the past four decades, and Mrs Williams has been at her desk for nearly half that time.

“I’ve seen the school grow with the various building projects that have enhanced the learning and playing spaces of our small school,” she said.

“I have also enjoyed seeing the growth in the numbers of our wonderful staff, who are passionate about teaching and providing and fostering a great learning environment for our students and Christian schooling.”

Growth in enrolments, especially in younger grades, and transitioning to a new governance structure are just some of the landmarks achieved during her tenure.

“The refurbishment of the science lab, and then the whole school, with the building of our COLA area for students, were milestones,” she said.

“And the involvement of students in our school camps and school plays, and watching our students really flourish in drama at the Shakespeare Carnival, have been wonderful achievements.”

Principal Noel Kramer said Mrs Williams will be missed.

“Kathi’s steadfastness, integrity, generosity and deep care for people and the school have not only blessed me and supported me in my role, but have blessed our school community for 18 years,” Mrs Kramer said.

“She has a wonderful sense of humour, and a quick laugh which brings such joy to a day.

“Kathi is also an excellent listener, and anyone who needs a chat ultimately finds their way to her office where she listens, encourages and prays.

“Kathi will be missed more than words can express, and our lives are richer because of the time we have been blessed to share with her at Moree Christian School,” she said.

Incoming finance and operations manager, Carmelle McClure, said she’s been guided by one of the best.

“Kathi’s vast experience, knowledge of the job, wisdom and thoughtfulness will be dearly missed,” Mrs McClure said.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed working under her guidance and supervision and have benefited professionally and personally.

“Kathi’s natural, caring and generous personality is what she is known for at Moree Christian School.

“She will be sorely missed by the entire school family, however we wish Kathi and Wayne God’s abundant blessings for their new season ahead,” she said.
