The Rotary Club of Narrabri hosted a screening of the film ‘Giants’ to support Rotary’s continued polio eradication efforts.

Almost 60 people attended the screening and meet the producer event at The Crossing Theatre.

One of the producers of the film, Steven Rees, of Narrabri, spoke about the short film’s local significance.

Directed by Sydney’s Eddy Bell, the film magnificently portrayed the hardships of a family struggling with implications of drought in rural Australia.

The movie was produced by Mr Rees and filmed at his parent’s property, ‘Murrumbilla’, the adjoining property also named ‘Murrumbilla’, which is the home of Bones and Jenny Falkiner, and the 50th Galloping Gully Polocrosse Club carnival.

Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years.

The goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever.

As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, Rotary has reduced polio cases by 99.9 per cent since the first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.
