Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) NSW recently convened a lunch meeting with the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Jenny Aitchison, to discuss crucial aspects of infrastructure development in the region.

Managing director of WTC Group, Will Childs was one of the selected civil industry leaders invited to attend the event.

The gathering provided a platform for insightful discussions on various topics, including road funding strategies to support ongoing infrastructure projects, initiatives for transitioning towards cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions, allocation of emergency road repair funding within local government areas, and challenges pertaining to availability of construction materials and procurement processes across different scales.

Mr Childs said the event was a wonderful opportunity for regional and metropolitan civil contractors to meet with and discuss their industry with government leaders present.

“It was a rare opportunity to gather key civil leaders in the one room and reflect on our industry and how it contributes greatly to delivering critical construction projects to the state and communities in which we operate,” Mr Childs said.

“WTC is a proud provider of civil services as were a number of the attendees from their respective regions.

“Attending the event and gaining insights into our industry’s challenges, opportunities, and the positive impact civil construction has on our communities was an invaluable experience.

One of the focal points of the occasion was the location of the event being held in the Speaker’s dining room within NSW Parliament House.

Nestled behind the Legislative Assembly, this room can only be booked by a minister.

This rare privilege highlighted the significance of the discussion and the commitment of all participants to advancing infrastructure delivery in NSW.

Mr Childs said he was humbled to be in the room with inspiring leaders of the industry in which they work and love being a part of.

“Personally, for me it was a significant highlight to my professional career to which I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to participate in,” Mr Childs said.

Attendees expressed their gratitude to Komatsu and Chris Moroz for their generous support in facilitating the event.
