Today is also the traditional, though unofficial date of William Shakespeare’s birth. April 23, 1564 is the date settled on as Shakespeare was baptised on April 26 of that year, and baptisms were usually performed within a few days of birth. Ironically, Shakespeare also died on the same date – April 23, in 1616.
