Journalist Kavina Kumar was thrilled to be invited to join the Country Universities Centre on day two of their school holiday guest panel along with local veterinarians Alison Thomas and Georgie Whatmore, and Narrabri High School Clontarf coordinator Clayton Persche.

The panel was interviewed by CUC’s Kaitlin Storey, answering questions about their perspective careers and how they got to where they are today.

The local students also asked brilliant questions about each career field and the studies undertaken to get to where we are today.

There was an awesome show-and-tell featuring a dog skull and heart, and word on the street is that on the previous day’s panel, dog trainer Sue Duncan had brought along her dog Bobby, and James Faris of National Parks and Wildlife had brought along his pet snake.

Kavina’s contribution was her recent front-page Courier article on the wonderful accomplishments of the first female president of the Narrabri RSL Sub-branch, Nicole Gallagher, to share ahead of Anzac Day.

Students were inspired by her story and each wrote congratulatory notes on a framed copy of her story, which Nicole loved and decided to hang in her study.
