As I walked through the quiet streets of Narrabri, I would pass by the old gum trees which lined the road, their branches swaying gently in the morning breeze.

The sound of birds chirping filled the air, adding to the peacefulness of the early morning.

I would often stop to admire the beauty of the countryside around me – the rolling hills, and the distant mountains (Mt Kaputar) which loomed on the horizon.

It was a sight that never failed to take my breath away, no matter how many times I had seen it before.

As I continue on my walk towards the Narrabri Lake, I would sometimes come across other early risers or joggers getting in their morning exercise.

We would exchange greetings and smiles, united by the shared experience of starting our day with a walk in the fresh morning air.

But it was not just the physical benefits of my morning walks that kept me going – it was also the sense of peace and tranquillity that I found in those early hours.

The world felt still and calm, and I could feel my worries and stresses melting away with each step I took.

And so, as the sun rose higher in the sky and the town began to wake up around me, I would return home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, ready to face whatever challenges the day might bring.

My morning walks had become a cherished ritual since we lived in Narrabri.

A time for me to not only to connect with nature – also to connect with God each day.

In Enoch’s story found in Genesis 5:21-24, his walking with God ultimately led to a transformational experience, where he was taken up to Heaven and granted eternal life.

While most of us may not expect such a dramatic outcome from our daily walks, the lesson of Enoch’s story remains relevant – walking can be a powerful tool for spiritual growth, self-reflection, and finding peace in a chaotic world.
