The Narrabri Chamber of Commerce Christmas Street Carnival will return to Maitland Street next Friday evening bigger and brighter.
Chamber president Russell Stewart said the organisation had been planning the festivities for many months.
The usual festive treats will be available, as well as carnival rides to suit children of all ages. This year, market stalls will feature on the night.
The inclusion of carnival rides is a much-loved fixture of the event and a climbing wall, tea cups and the riptide will return, adding to the fun of the fair.
“Our carnival rides are extremely affordable for families at $2 a ride,” Mr Stewart said.
This year’s chamber carnival has again been supported by the business community, and Mr Stewart expressed his thanks to the major sponsor Whitehaven Coal and sponsors Narrabri Shire Council, the NSW government, CIVEO, Santos and GFS.
“The chamber gets a lot of satisfaction bringing this event to the community,” Mr Stewart said.
“It brings in 3000 people to Narrabri’s main street.”
Narrabri High School students will perform on the centre stage, with local musician Lloyd Bennett performing until 9pm.
Mr Stewart said the chamber was again thrilled to see continued participation by local service clubs and emergency services.
“It’s a great night out for the family. We also try to ensure it’s an affordable night as well,” he said.
“We couldn’t do it without our fantastic sponsors.”
The chamber Christmas tree, supported by local business GFS Engineering, will again serve as a bright backdrop for the evening’s festivities.
Later in the evening, at 7.30pm, The Courier will draw the prizes from its Shop Local Christmas promotion on stage.
The Courier will again bring a special guest to the festivities, with Father Christmas making an appearance for photos with children.
On the day – Friday, December 13, Maitland Street will close to traffic between Doyle and Dewhurst Streets from 3pm.
“If your car is still parked in that section of Maitland Street after 3pm, there is a real chance you won’t be able to get out,” Mr Stewart said.
The Narrabri Chamber of Commerce Christmas Street Carnival will start at 5pm on Friday, December 13, and will run through to 9pm.
