Narrabri Shire Council has adopted its 2023/2024 Annual Report. The report presents a snapshot of the year’s achievements and future directions. While the financials included are in draft form, the final figures will be tabled for council endorsement in the new year, an update from council read.
“The report reflects positively on the shire, showcasing a dynamic and sustainable community. Over the past year, council hosted 23 cultural events, achieved a 33 per cent reduction in energy consumption, and an impressive $22.1M in grant funding received for infrastructure transport across the shire. Meanwhile, nearly 35,000 people visited the Visitor Information Centre, and The Crossing Theatre welcomed 18,000 guests, highlighting Narrabri’s thriving cultural and tourism sectors.” Cr Joshua Roberts-Garnsey moved that the Annual Report be adopted. This was seconded by Cr Jocellin Jansson.
The design for the Wee Waa Levee Upgrade was also endorsed at last Wednesday evening’s meeting, marking a significant milestone for the project. During the public exhibition process, the design received unanimous support. With the design now approved, council will actively pursue funding through all available channels, aiming to secure resources for this important work. To enhance funding opportunities, council will also explore a staged approach, which would break the project into smaller, more manageable sections. Cr Brett Dickinson moved that council note the engagement report and adopt the design. This was seconded by Cr Jansson.
