Narrabri District Cricket Association’s 2024/25 season T20 competition will resume this Saturday with the sixth and final round as the race for the last spot in the first grade grand final heats up with three teams battling for one remaining spot.

Tourist Hotel, Tatts, and the Wilga Hotel Razorbacks are in contention, but only one will join RSL in the final following Saturday’s crucial contests.

The undefeated RSL have already secured top spot with a commanding 12-point lead and are guaranteed their place in the final, leaving the other three sides to fight it out for the remaining spot in what promises to be an entertaining conclusion to the regular season ahead of the February 8 grand final.

Players were given a chance to freshen up last weekend as the comp stopped for a full bye for the Australia Day long weekend and they are now ready to rumble.

Tourist Hotel and the Razorbacks will go head-to-head in a must-win round six clash at Collins Park and the stakes could not be any higher for either side.

Tourist currently hold a one-game advantage over the Razorbacks and the equation is simple for them – win and they are in. However, they only need a washout or a tie to secure their spot in the final, while a loss would open the door for their opponents.

Tatts also find themselves one win behind Tourist and will need to beat RSL at Leitch Oval in round six to even have a chance of advancing, but their hopes do not rest entirely in their own hands. They will also require the Razorbacks to defeat Tourist in order to leapfrog their way into the top two.

It is a scenario that could see all three clubs finish tied on 21 points, which would then see net run rate decide the team that becomes the second grand finalist.

Individual honours are also up for grabs as the top wicket-taker and run-scorer races go down to the wire.

RSL’s Jake Brayshaw currently leads the way at the top of the run-scoring tally with 90 in three knocks, but he is away this Saturday and will likely be overtaken.

Tatts’ skipper Jakeb Nipperess (89) and Brayshaw’s brother and teammate Cooper Brayshaw (78) are next best, and players like Tourist Hotel’s Nick Tomlinson (70), Dylan Segundo (57) and Hamish Duncan (56), Tatts’ Karl Hatfield (63) and the Razorbacks’ Jack Tate (42) are all one solid innings from finishing on top.

The wicket-taking race is as tight as ever with four players locked on seven scalps at the top going into the final round. They include Tatts’ Josh Campbell, the Wilga Razorbacks’ Greg Melton, and RSL duo Cody Kember and Will Ford.

Those four men are in the box seat to take out the crown, but there are several other players lurking who can go past them with a solid bowling performance in the final round.

The final round of the second grade T20 competition will have no bearing on the top-two as both RSL and Tourist Hotel have already booked a grand final showdown.

Those two sides have both won four of their five games this season to enter the final round locked on 29 points, while Tatts and SignPrintStitch Colts have both won once and are out of contention with 11 points.

Saturday’s round six matches will see Tourist Hotel and the Colts go head-to-head at Collins Park, and RSL and Tatts meet at Leitch Oval.

The second grade games will begin at 3pm and will be followed by the first grade games at 6.30pm.
