Narrabri Shire Council is continuing to progress fire safety upgrades and rectification works at The Crossing Theatre, council said in an update regarding the facility late last week.

At this stage, the venue will remain closed until further updates are available. The facility closed in May and was expected to reopen by June 23. In the most recent announcement prior to last week, the venue’s reopening was anticipated as late July.

“Council understands how frustrating it has been for the community, but we are committed to delivering a facility that is fully compliant with current regulations for the safety of the venue users,” general manager Eloise Chaplain said.

“Our priority is ensuring The Crossing Theatre reopens meeting the highest fire safety standards to protect staff, patrons and performers.

“We are continuing to work with key stakeholders to reopen the venue as soon as possible.”

In its update, council said it will keep the community informed of progress through The Crossing Theatre website and social media pages, as well as council’s website and Facebook page.

Updates regarding The Crossing Theatre will also be published in The Courier. “Community members can also contact The Crossing Theatre directly on 02 6799 6740 or email [email protected],” council’s update read.
