Police have charged 10 people after a three-day surge operation in the Moree area.

On Thursday, September 11, officers attached to Western Region, with assistance from officers attached to New England Police District, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Youth Command and Western Region Operational Support Group, conducted the surge operation. The three-day operation ran from the early hours of Thursday, September 11 to 5am on Sunday, September 14.

During the operation, officers conducted 26 bail and ADVO compliance checks, 12 person searches, 290 random breath tests, and charged 10 people with 28 offences and issued 77 infringement notices. Officers from Youth Command visited a school and a youth facility in Moree and engaged with about 200 young people across the three days, including a disco event on Friday, September 12.

Incidents of note include:

• On Thursday, September 11, police executed a search warrant at a home on Boland Drive, Moree, as part of an investigation into alleged break and enter offences in the Carlingford and Telopea areas in late July 2025. During the search warrant, they seized a motorcycle alleged to have been stolen. Following inquiries, about 2pm on the same day, a 20-year-old man was arrested on Green Street, Tamworth. He was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner (two counts), aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000 (two counts), aggravated enter dwelling in company intent to steal less than or equal to $60,000, and aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company less than or equal to $60,000. He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 5 on Friday, September 12, where he was refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday, September 22.

• About 6pm on Thursday, September 11, a 38-year-old man wanted on outstanding warrants was arrested on Wattle Crescent, Moree. He was taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with two outstanding warrants relating to aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000 and enter dwelling with intent to steal offences. He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 5 on Friday, September 12, where he was refused bail to appear at Moree Local Court on Monday, September 22.
