The Courier has been announced as a finalist for the acclaimed Best Newspaper title for Country Press NSW’s annual awards celebration.

This year, Country Press NSW and the Victorian Country Press Association will unite at a historic joint conference in Yarrawonga, Victoria.

In a first for the NSW association, awards finalists have been announced ahead of what is expected to be an action-packed conference attended by independent newspaper proprietors and staff as well as industry representatives spanning the two states.

The Courier was previously awarded the Best Newspaper title in 2022 when the awards ceremony resumed after a hiatus and again in 2023. The honour was presented to its sister publication, the Gunnedah Times, in 2024, while The Courier was acknowledged in several other categories, including the top award for editorial excellence. This year, The Courier will vie for the top title in the higher circulation category of Best Newspaper along with the Broken Hill Times and the Deniliquin Pastoral Times.

The Courier was also announced as a finalist for Best Commercial Feature for its 2024 Narrabri Chamber of Commerce Business Awards feature, and for Best Locally Produced Advertisement.

This year’s conference will be co-hosted by Country Press NSW president Lucie Peart, of the Gilgandra Times, and Victorian Country Press Association chairman Jared Loughnan.

“We are excited to celebrate the historic milestone of 125 years of Country Press NSW and to join with colleagues, who are equally passionate about our industry,” CPNSW president Lucie Peart said.
