A teenager faced court charged over an alleged stabbing in Moree.

Just before 1am on Sunday, September 14, emergency services were called to a motel on Alice Street, Moree, following reports of an alleged stabbing.

Officers attached to New England Police District were told about five individuals allegedly forced entry into a room before they were confronted by a 52-year-old man. An altercation occurred, during which the man was allegedly stabbed in the torso and arm.

Four of the group fled the scene.

The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to a hospital in a stable condition.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested at the scene and taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding, face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence, and special break and enter commit serious indictable offence, and breach of bail.

He was refused bail and appeared at a children’s court on September 14.

Following the first arrest, a second teenager was charged in relation to the alleged incident. Following inquiries, strike force detectives arrested a second 13-year-old boy at a home in Hillvue, about 10.50am on Tuesday, September 16, before taking him to Tamworth Police Station. He was charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, and face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence.

The teen was refused bail to appear before children’s court yesterday, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before children’s court on Thursday, November 20.

Inquiries into the matter continue.
