Community radio station 2MaxFM celebrated its 25th birthday on Friday and Saturday, September 26 and 27, with a 25-hour radiothon on air, non-stop.

Station manager for 2MaxFM, Lauren Grant spoke on behalf of the team on their excitement and gratitude for the Narrabri community listening in.

“On September 27, we had an enormous open day, and a 25th birthday celebration.

“Our goal was to raise vital funds for our community radio station, such as equipment.

“We had many familiar faces, old and new presenters, come and join in on the day.

“Previous station managers and long time listeners. It was a celebration for all.

“There was so much food, raffles with 16 prizes donated from local businesses and people, we had lucky door and 100 clubs.

“We had the pleasure to listen to a fabulous singer all morning, Lachie McKay, half of the McKay Brothers band. He was absolutely fabulous and entertained our crowd.

“There was a phenomenal cake and a few speeches said, it was wonderful.

“2MaxFM are the voice of the North West and it is very special for the community to join in celebrating this incredible milestone with all the people who make it happen,” she said.

“We’d like to give a huge thank you to all of our listeners, those who tune in on their way to work or on those late night travels, we appreciate the support and dedication.

“From Mornings with Julie to Breakfast with Anthony, they are the familiar locals you listen to and later, see down the street.

Ms Grant said 2MaxFM is no ordinary radio station, and through their collaboration with local schools, businesses and people of interest travelling through town, they give that support back to the community.
