2025 will be a year that former junior Blue Boars duo Joey Fowler and Sid Harvey will never forget after the Narrabri boys helped guide the NSW Waratahs to the inaugural Super Rugby Aus title in Perth on Sunday.

The Waratahs had placed second on the ladder after playing the three other teams in the comp once each, with their only loss coming back in round one home soil against the Western Force.

However, they showed great improvement in wins against the Queensland Reds and the ACT Brumbies in rounds two and three, and they were much better against the Force in the final at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex as they scored a 33-26 victory.

A last-minute try to substitute Austin Durbidge sealed the win for NSW after the score was locked at 26-all with seconds remaining.

Harvey then nailed his fourth conversion from five attempts to finish the tournament having kicked 16 from 18. The winger also scored the Waratahs’ second try of the match and was later named in the team of the tournament.

Fowler also starred throughout the competition and was unlucky to miss out on the number 10 jersey in the team of the tournament, with the Western Force’s Max Burey winning five-eighth and player of the tournament.

For the Narrabri boys, the grand final capped off a super season year that has seen them both excel for their club, state and country. They are both now eyeing off a big pre-season for the Waratahs as 2026 draws closer.
