The Most Rev Peter Murphy, Bishop of Armidale, recently visited the Parishes of Wee Waa and Narrabri as part of his ongoing pastoral engagements within the diocese.
Bishop Murphy was appointed by Pope Francis as the 11th Bishop of Armidale on February 26, 2025 and was ordained and installed at Saints Mary and Joseph’s Cathedral, Armidale on May 8, 2025.
He currently serves on the Australian Bishops’ Commission for Doctrine and Morals.
During his visit, Bishop Murphy celebrated the Holy Mass on Saturday evening and Sunday morning and held meetings with representatives from the Parish Council, Parish Finance Council, Liturgy Committee, St Vincent de Paul Conference, and the Parish Historical Committee.
The discussions focused on pastoral opportunities and challenges within rural parish communities.
