They are the friendly faces behind the Narrabri Red Cross committee – a triumphant team motivated by community spirit to support and provide comfort to those in need.
The Narrabri Red Cross team has recently celebrated a 35-year milestone making their well-loved trauma teddies.
Over the past 35 years, the Narrabri Red Cross have put their time, care and love into each and every trauma teddy given out to hospitals, schools and community groups.
Each teddy is there to be a friend, a symbol of comfort, warmth and happiness.
Kath Davis and Narrabri Red Cross volunteers hand-make the teddies, a process of knitting, stuffing and finishing each one, ready for delivery.
Kath told The Courier that since the Red Cross team have important steps to follow in creating the teddies, their new owners should follow some strict instructions too.
“You must make sure to give your teddy a cuddle and a kiss goodnight before tucking them in every night,” Kath said.
“It is a very proud moment to be celebrating 35 years of our trauma teddies,
“Over these years, it still brings us so much joy seeing our teddies in the arms of those who need it most,” she said.
“I’m happy to be a part of an incredible group of people in the Narrabri Red Cross who all do their part in creating these gifts of hope and comfort.
“From sessions where we spend the morning stuffing teddies while enjoying a cup of tea, to packaging them up and seeing them be gifted to hundreds of people in need, it is a team effort that is always so rewarding,” Kath said.
