The countdown to Christmas Day is on after the Narrabri Chamber of Commerce Christmas tree was put in place at its Maitland Street site, next to the Narrabri post office.
The six-metre tree is now in its 12th year and was erected and decorated by chamber volunteers and helpers. The tree will again shine throughout the festive season on the post office lawn.
The tree is a Christmas contribution to the community by the chamber, with assistance from the Gale family, to bring more light and colour to the town centre as Christmas shopping gets into full swing through December.
The chamber is grateful to those who help with the tree every year, especially the Gale family and those businesses that donate equipment. This year, three generations of the Gale family have been part of the installation.
A sign is placed on the fence in front of the tree acknowledging the tree’s various sponsors.
This year’s assembly has been made simpler thanks to a new container to store the tree and its various components. The container means volunteers no longer have to fluff out most of the branches, a considerable and time-consuming exercise.
“It’s a real community effort,” said Jenny Gale, who coordinates the tree’s installation.
“We are grateful to the sponsors.”
