The latest testing of Narrabri’s town water supply shows PFAS levels are well below current guidelines.

Narrabri Shire Council published results from the Namoi reservoir last week.

PFOA and PFBS chemicals were not detected. PFOS was at 3ng/l, below the guideline of 8ng/l. PFHxS was a 2ng/l, below the guideline of 30ng/l.

In its update, council said the Narrabri water supply continues to be safe for consumption.

“The Tibbereena Street bore continues to supplement water supplied from the Elizabeth Street bore (the latest testing of the Elizabeth Street bore showed no detection of PFAS),” the update read.

“The Killarney bore remains switched off after testing in early July 2025 showed Namoi Reservoir levels slightly above current guidelines.”

NSW Health continues to recommend private bore owners consider testing their groundwater.
