Two people have died following a crash south of Narrabri.
About 1.15am on Friday, January 23, emergency services were called to the Newell Highway after reports a car and truck had collided before catching alight.
Officers from Oxley Police District attended along with NSW Ambulance paramedics and Fire and Rescue NSW.
Both vehicles were destroyed and the drivers of the car and truck both died at the scene.
At the time of reporting the incident early on Friday morning, NSW Police advised that the drivers were yet to be formally identified.
The blaze reportedly spread to nearby forest and was extinguished.
A crime scene has been established with all lanes of the Newell Highway closed. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
