Narrabri residents will be saddened to learn of the passing of former local identity Wynne King.
Mrs Wynne King passed away peacefully at Turramurra Nursing Home last Thursday, February 19, aged 101.
She and her husband Alan were proprietors of prominent retail businesses in Narrabri – King’s Jewellers and Elizabeth Artwares. In the mid 1970s they moved to Tamworth and opened stores there.
They remained in Tamworth after retirement, eventually moving to an independent living apartment at the Anzac Village, Narrabeen.
Mr King passed away in 2019, aged 96 years and they had been married for 72 years.
Mrs King transferred to supported living at Turramurra House in 2023.
Her funeral was held in Sydney yesterday.
She is survived by her son Tony of Willunga, South Australia and daughter Janet Dixon Hughes of Denman, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
