Narrabri Hospital Auxiliary has issued a dire plea for more volunteers to assist at its kiosk.

The organisation has been thrilled to welcome new recruits in the past, however, its ageing volunteer base has meant it struggles to keep pace with members retiring.

Auxiliary president Tricia Hadley OAM made an impassioned plea for community members to think of the hospital kiosk if they are looking for volunteer opportunities.

“If we had another six volunteers, that would be fantastic and would alleviate the workload on our other volunteers,” Mrs Hadley said.

“If we don’t get more volunteers, we may have to look at the kiosk’s operations.”

The hospital kiosk plays an important role to local health service staff, visiting doctors and specialists, visitors and patients.

At its core, the kiosk is a fundraiser for the auxiliary and enables the organisation to make contributions to the hospital, however, it also plays a role as a service provider.

“Even if people can spare one day a month, we would welcome that,” Mrs Hadley said.

“If you’re thinking of joining us, why not bring a friend as well.”

Mrs Hadley described volunteering with the auxiliary and its kiosk as a rewarding experience.

During its existence, the auxiliary has made many contributions to the hospital for the benefit of patients and staff.

Mrs Hadley said the members are eager to see this role continue.

Interested volunteers can contact Mrs Hadley on 0427 834 286 or Lyn Vaughn on 0427 456 654.
