A morning tea was recently held to mark five years of police service for local officers Kim Yee and Nick Murray, and significantly, the pair were also promoted to senior constable positions.

“It was great to be recognised for my service, and I was lucky to have the morning tea organised by my colleagues, with the guest appearance of the unofficial ‘mayor’ of Wee Waa (Roxanne Whitton), being the icing on the cake,” Snr Cst Yee told The Courier.
When asked why she became a police officer and why she’d continued serving, Snr Cst Yee responded: “I saw policing as an exciting job, where I would get to experience new things everyday. Working in the Narrabri Shire definitely has not disappointed. I am grateful to have built so many positive relationships in the last five years within the Narrabri Shire and be so welcomed and accepted into this small community.”
More than a milestone, the promotion to the rank of Senior Constable follows the attainment of a number of academic qualifications and then a rigorous probity check to confirm they have completed their service ethically and diligently. It is a proud day in their careers and acknowledges the experience they have attained after five full years of service.
Snr Cst Nick Murray said the morning tea was “a great occasion” and it was a good moment to reflect on the past five years. He said he was originally driven to join the police force to help families in need, especially those affected by domestic violence.
“However, since being in the job, I graduated towards traffic enforcement and have enjoyed every moment since joining the Oxley highway patrol and traffic command,” he added.
“Working within the Narrabri shire and among the community is great. Most of the community pass on positive comments during my shift.”
“It’s a great town and great people,” added Snr Cst Nick Murray.
