Narrabri Rugby Club will host three trial games tomorrow night when they welcome Avoca Beach to town, with women’s, reserve grade and first grade contests to light up Dangar Park.
The women’s 10s match will be Narrabri’s first with April Smith at the helm as the team’s coach.
Smith has been at the heart of the Blue Boars’ Central North Rugby Union women’s division dynasty for the past four seasons, and she well and truly stepped up her leadership last year.
The 24-year-old was selected for Central North’s representative side earlier in the year and she excelled at the Country Champs in Tamworth, earning herself a call-up to the NSW Country team that played at the Australian Rugby Shield in October.
The five-eighth also played a key role in the Blue Boars’ undefeated minor/major premiership run, and she was the recipient of the Rhiannon Byers Cup for the best and fairest player of the CNRU competition during the post-game presentation after the 36-25 grand final victory over Tamworth Pirates in September.
She is now tasked with guiding the Blue Boars to a record fourth consecutive CNRU women’s 10s title in 2026.
The women’s kick off tomorrow night is 5.45pm, and will be followed by reserve grade at 6.45pm and first grade at 8pm.
