Easter means one thing at Watson’s Kitchen — hot cross bun season is in full swing.

The bakery is already deep into production, with demand soaring for these much-loved treats, freshly prepared and baked right here in the community.

The recipe itself is a time-honoured favourite, unchanged for almost 30 years.

Each Easter week, the team typically produces around 3000 buns, emerging from the ovens perfectly baked and ready to be snapped up by eager customers.

While many enjoy hot cross buns as a delicious seasonal indulgence, they also carry deep symbolic meaning.

The cross represents the crucifixion of Jesus, while the blend of spices is said to reflect those used in his burial.

Narrabri is lucky to have a local bakery like Watson’s Kitchen, not only keeping this tradition alive but also offering a full range of freshly baked goods for the community to enjoy.
