I recently returned to Narrabri, my old hometown, and it was wonderful to reconnect with family, old schoolmates and long-time friends. It’s always a pleasure to see how strongly the community continues to thrive.
Last year’s Narrabri Cup was washed out, yet still well supported.
This year, the weather turned it on, and the day was outstanding.
The young, energetic committee deserves real credit — the grounds have been revitalised and presented in excellent condition, and the crowd of around 1500 created a terrific atmosphere.
A mate travelled with me from the coast for his second visit, and he was equally impressed with the town, the golf course, and the effort being put into keeping racing strong in the region.
We enjoyed the corporate tent, which offered great value and first-class catering.
Well done to all involved. See you next year — God willing.
