A teenage boy faced court on Saturday charged with allegedly possessing extremist material following an investigation in Moree.
In December 2025, officers attached to New England Police District commenced an investigation after receiving information a teenager was allegedly accessing extremist material online.
Officers, including from the Moree Crime Prevention Unit, General Duties, and Criminal Investigation Unit, executed a Commonwealth warrant at a home in Moree on Friday, March 27.
During the search, police allegedly seized a mobile phone, a ballistic-style vest, and several notebooks.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with use carriage service-possess violent extremist material and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.
He was refused bail and appeared at a children’s court on Saturday, March 28.
The community has been reassured that there is no ongoing threat as a result of this matter.
