NARRABRI and District Chamber of Commerce recently joined with nbn to update local businesses on connectivity upgrades undertaken in the area.

Chamber president Russell Stewart welcomed nbn’s continued engagement with the organisation.

“We’ve got a great relationship with nbn,” Mr Stewart said.

“Chamber is delighted that they’ve been able to upgrade technology in the area.”

Mr Stewart said the upgrades were a great boost for both established businesses as well as people looking to come and establish themselves in Narrabri.

“We need to have great connectivity,” he said.

“One of the first things businesses, when looking to come to Narrabri, often ask about is connectivity.

“Chamber appreciates that nbn were able to give an overview of where they’re at.”

A spokesperson for nbn said the meeting provided a valuable opportunity to engage directly with local businesses following the rollout of new nbn fixed wireless infrastructure in the Narrabri region, funded through the NSW government’s Regional Digital Connectivity Program.

“It was important to hear first-hand how local businesses are using connectivity and to understand how these upgrades can support business retention and attract new investment to the region,” the spokesperson said.

“Discussion focused on the Narrabri East fixed wireless tower and improved network performance, noting that since the initial launch, additional towers at Yarrie Lake and Drildool are now also live, further boosting coverage in the region.

“The session also included a business scams awareness component, with practical advice on cybersecurity, including password protection.”

The spokesperson said members shared feedback on the importance of reliable connectivity and showed strong interest in the benefits of fixed wireless services and other recent nbn upgrades.

“A key theme was the growing reliance on dependable connectivity, alongside increasing awareness of cyber risks – highlighting the need for both strong digital infrastructure and good security practices,” the spokesperson said.

“Residents and businesses were also encouraged to check their eligibility and explore available services at nbn.com.au/CheckRegional
