THE Narrabri Country Hostess Association held a cocktail party fundraiser recently, with guests embracing The Glitter Ranch theme and for a good cause.

“The raffle proceeds and a portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Narrabri Women’s and Children’s refuge,” said committee president Emily Colless.

While the committee is still finalising donation figures, the Narrabri and District Community Aid Service Inc said it was “incredibly grateful to be the recipient of this donation”.

“We value local support; NDCAS as an organisation was born from the vision of local people wanting to support their community,” said NDCAS chief executive officer Josh Pattison.

“We will put the donation towards the yard and garden spaces at the refuge that the women and children staying there use every day”

The refuge offers short-term accommodation in a safe and secure place for women and their children who are experiencing family and domestic violence or other significant risk factors.

Emily thanked the generous local businesses who donated to the raffle and supported the event as well as the committee and volunteers who made it a fun and successful evening.

For decades, the Association has been well-known for its commitment to the local community and contributing to important causes, most famously through the biennial Country Hostess Ball.

This year, the committee decided to mix it up, trading the classic ball for a cocktail party to better suit the location – a decision that proved popular with attendees.

“I think everyone had a great night,” said Emily.

“It was held at The Lodge, which is a beautiful space.

“We had the Glitter Ranch theme. So, cowboy meets sequins, and everyone got really into the dressing up.”
