THE Narrabri Blues have made a milestone match one to remember for Jake Rumsby who celebrated his 100th game at Collins Park on Sunday.

A jersey presentation prior to the first grade kick-off set the tone and fired up the Blues to storm home in emphatic fashion against the Kootingal-Moonbi Roosters.

The Blues defeated the Roosters 60-22.

First grade coach Hayden Bell said there had been an emotional feeling around the room as they honoured Rumsby’s dedication to the club.

“The Rumsbys, they bleed blue. They love this club,” Bell said.

“It was great to be able recognise Jake who has all of the attributes of what it is to be a Narrabri Blues footballer.

“He deserved that day.”

Bell praised the first grade players for making it a memorable day at Collins Park.

It’s the first time the Blues have won at home since the 2024 season.

“I thought it was the best side we’ve put out there,” he said.

The squad was out in force, with the exception of Jacob Nichols who was unable to play.

“It was a full-strength team,” Bell said.

“This is where we want to be.

“That type of win has been brewing for a while.

“We showed what we can do when get everyone together on the park.

“The boys should be very proud of that achievement.”

Bell thanked the club and community for sticking by the Blues.

“That win has been waiting there for the last two years,” he said.

“All of the work from the club, and the support of the community…that win means a lot.

“It’s been hard at times.

“Everyone stuck around after the game, enjoyed the win and listened to the club song bellow out of the shed.”

Bell said he hoped it would inspire the players to get a few more wins on the board before the season ends.

When asked if he had any standout achievers, he praised the entire squad.

“There wouldn’t have been a single player there who was a passenger,” Bell said.

“It was a real team effort.

“Once we come together like that, you can see what we’re capable of.”
