CUBBAROO Polocrosse Club hosted its popular carnival on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July, at the Wee Waa showground.

Players travelled from across the state, as well as Roma and Dirranbandi in Queensland, to compete at the multi-horse carnival.

Along with host club Cubbaroo, the competing clubs were Narrabri, Bunnan, Cassilis, Dirranbandi, Galloping Gully, Gulgong, Guyra, Roma, Inverell, Muswellbrook and Quirindi.

The weekend’s weather was ideal for players and spectators, with plenty of fun had in the winter sunshine both on the field and the sidelines.

The jackpot barrel races on Saturday afternoon attracted a big and enthusiastic crowd.

While the Wee Waa Lions Club did a superb job of running the canteen, members cooked up their signature barbecue and kept spirits high with their great sense of humour.

“The Lions look after us very well,” said Cubbaroo’s Emily Brodigan.

“And on Saturday night, we were treated to a delicious feast by Leanne Schwager.

“We’re not a massive club, but all our members worked tirelessly to pull the weekend together – we couldn’t do it without everyone’s help.

“It absolutely was a successful carnival, I think we had 24 teams all up.

“What a fabulous turnout it was and a massive thank you to our loyal sponsors, amazing supporters and hard-working members.

“Without your dedication and commitment to the blue and white we wouldn’t be able to host such a successful weekend.”
