Narrabri Shire Australia Day awards open for nominations

Residents are being encouraged to shine a light on outstanding community service by nominating deserving individuals and organisations for a Narrabri Shire Australia Day award.

The awards recognise people across the shire who have achieved outstanding results over the past 12 months, as well as those who have made a lasting and meaningful contribution to the community over many years.

Nominations for the 2027 awards are now open, with residents encouraged to put forward individuals, groups and organisations whose dedication and hard work deserve to be acknowledged.

It is an opportunity to celebrate the many positive contributions made across the community by people who often work behind the scenes and may not always receive the recognition they deserve.

The Narrabri Shire Australia Day nomination categories are:

Citizen of the Year (aged 25 years or older as of January 26 2027);

Young Citizen of the Year (aged 24 years or younger as of January 26 2027);

Community Group Service Award;

Environmental award;

Senior Sportsperson of the Year (aged 25 years or older as of January 26 2027);

Junior Sportsperson of the Year (aged 24 years or younger as of January 26 2027);

Community Arts and Cultural Development.

The winners will be presented with their accolades at the official awards ceremony next year.
