Special day at Cook Oval for Tracy Kiem Memorial Match

It was a special day at Cook Oval on 5 September for the Tracy Kiem Memorial Match.

Wee Waa United Football Club and Narrabri FC observed a minute’s silence in memory of the late Tracy Kiem before the game kicked off.

“Tracy was a long-term member of our club before her passing,” said Wee Waa United’s Sarah Trevaskis.

“It was a great game and (Narrabri) FC are excellent to play our annual memorial match against.

“She (Tracy) had her heart in community soccer; both her kids, Amelia and Jack, are part of the senior team, so it means a lot to support them and honour her memory.”

There was a good crowd at Wee Waa’s Cook Oval for the memorial match, an important occasion for the club to remember Tracy and celebrate the significant contribution she made to Wee Waa United and the community.

Narrabri FC won the game 4–1, with Charlie Butler finding the back of the net twice.

Trace Akankunda and Emily Axon also got on the scoreboard, scoring a goal apiece.

Wee Waa’s goal was scored by Brock Radburn.

“Brock Radburn scored an excellent one for us with an assist from Billy Shearin,” Trevaskis said.

“We really held our own in the second half of the game, conceding no goals thanks to our keeper Jerry Wohling.

“We have had a challenging but rewarding season with a lot of new or returned players to the club learning how to gel together on the field.

“The improvement has been very noticeable and the results of our last half of the season were completely different to the beginning.

“Best of luck to FC and the rest of the Namoi Comp teams as they enter the season finals.”

Narrabri FC players Elijah Ghassan and Lara Eather won the Domino’s Narrabri player of the match awards.

Charlie Butler won the players’ player award.
