Six local health and wellbeing projects have been selected for funding through the Wee Waa Collaborative Care Small Grants initiative, following two weeks of community voting.
More than 400 votes were cast by community members to select their favourite ideas.
These community-inspired projects will benefit people of all ages, and include a community garden, fun and practical workshops for young people, and free local events that build social connection and create opportunities for different generations to connect.
The initiative offered small grants of up to $5,000 for community ideas that support health, wellbeing, and social connection in Wee Waa.
A total of $23,000 will be distributed across the six successful projects.
Successful recipients and projects include: Country Women’s Association, Sweets and Treats Multi-generational Wellbeing Connection Workshops; Northern Slopes Landcare Association, Building Connections: Bird Boxes for Wellbeing and Wildlife; RiverBank Youth Works, Skills to Thrive: Health and Wellbeing Program; Wee Waa High School Wellbeing Team, Girl Power; Wee Waa Men’s Shed, Shed for All Ages Open House Initiative; and Wee Waa Public School, Green Space, Fresh Air, Connection.
The winners have until 30 April 2027 to complete their projects.
The Wee Waa Collaborative Care project group thanked everyone who applied for a grant, saying many high-quality applications were submitted and, unfortunately, not every idea could be funded.
The Collaborative Care program is facilitated by RDN Health in partnership with the NSW Ministry of Health, local health providers, and community organisations.
