Local small businesses are the vital threads of our community fabric and supporting local businesses has never been more critical in these dry times.

Christmas, the most important time of the year for most retailers, is rapidly drawing closer.

Narrabri Shire businesses have the products and service and are looking forward to serving the community.

Next week sees the launch of The Courier and Wee Waa News’ Christmas Shopping promotion aimed at encouraging shoppers to ‘buy local’ and do their Christmas shopping in the shire.

The Courier and Wee Waa News is again hosting the Christmas promotion and local shoppers will have the chance to win shopping vouchers from a prize pool of $3000 – first prize is $1500, second $1000 and third $500.

Prizes have to be spent in participating stores.

The Christmas Shopping promotion will begin on Monday, November 4, and culminate with a draw of prizes in Maitland Street, on the Narrabri Post Office lawns on Thursday, December 19 a late night shopping event.

There are strong incentives to encourage residents to shop locally. Shoppers will have the chance to win vouchers which can only be redeemed at local stores.

And the retailer who sells the ‘winning’ ticket for the main prize will receive a $1000 ‘cash back’ prize and Fly Corporate tickets for two to Sydney or Brisbane.

Narrabri Shire’s local businesses are not only the convenient providers of goods and services, they are the employers of local people, and supporters of local clubs, events and organisations.

Support for our businesses is support for the whole community and for the future of younger generations coming on. Our shire retailers continue to offer local service, great products and professionalism – while meeting the challenges of the drought and out of town and online competition. Thinking Christmas? Buy local.
