Narrabri Touch Inc’s junior touch is still going strong. There are so many young and talented players coming along to our games on Monday night.
The junior touch will continue for the next three weeks and finish on Monday, December 16.
The older teams are having drills and then a game and the helpers are truly appreciated for giving up their time to help out.
Joan O’Neill who helps with the 5-6-year-olds introduces the children to the game of touch and has seen many players start with her group and work their way up to the older divisions and then play senior touch.
“This is the only way we can continue to keep our numbers increasing in senior touch”, she said.
This year’s young group has improved over the last five weeks and the players are now working as a team and their skills have improved immensely.
The photo above is from Monday night when the oldies (parents) played the young team, the goldies.
Each of the young players scored heaps of tries.
Sophia Ratcliffe represented girlpower and was the quiet achiever running around her mum quite a number of times.
Alex Macrae scored at least 10 tries in the corner showing his side stepping skills.
Toby Nairn has shown great talent in all aspects of the game especially in defence, and on Monday night stopped his father from scoring a number of tries.
Alex Thurston has also come onto the scene showing great ball skills and working well in a team sharing the ball.
“At this stage as long as the children go away from each session enjoying the game and learning new skills each week, well, I have done my job,” Joan O’Neill said.
“It has been such a pleasure teaching so many children over the years to learn to play touch.”
