This year’s Pilliga Christmas tree celebration attracted a huge crowd and the occasion was full of truly incredible surprises with some very generous donations from Mick and Bianca Judd of Newcastle.

The couple’s charity group called The Little Juddies gave a bike to each child and as you can imagine, the children of the Pilliga district thought all their Christmases had come at once.

The reaction was similar to when Oprah Winfrey gave away cars on her television program.

“Everyone was so overwhelmed by their generosity and the children and parents were amazed,” said Margie Cruickshank.

“They were all so grateful and humble.”

The Little Juddies also delivered 15 tonnes of non-perishable goods for farming families.

“We thank them so much as the Pilliga Christmas tree is so special to Pilliga, it has been going for over 60 years now and last Saturday night was just so special.”

Santa Claus also made an appearance and he arrived in style, in a police vehicle driven by Senior Constable Steve Cruickshank.

“It was a wonderful day and especially good for the farmers to catch up with each other as that does not happen very often, as they are working so hard on their properties,” said Margie Cruickshank.

“I would like to thank Jenny Stewart, Kim Smith, Lou Platt, Di Shearin, Tim and Amber Smith, Alan and Mark Johnson and all our helpers on the day – you were brilliant,” added Mrs Cruickshank.
